After School Care

Penn Junior Academy is available for children from 4 – 12 years.

We provide a safe, nurturing and homely environment for the children to spend their afternoons.

Our after-school care service includes:

• A fresh, healthy and nutritious lunch
• Supervised homework session with an experienced and qualified teacher
• Support in Reading and Writing for all after school care students
• Access to high quality enrichment opportunities
• Games and Play Time
• Character Development through implementation of the Virtues Project

Afternoon Schedule:

2.00pm   

  • Greeting and community lunch
  • Play time

3.00pm     

  • Book of the Day – sharing and discussing quality literature
  • Homework time
  • Reading mentoring session with Teacher

4.00pm       

  • Enrichment opportunities for 6-8 year olds (Please see termly schedule)
  • Literature response activity – writing/art/craft/drama movement
  • Number games, exploration and drills

5.00pm   

  • Enrichment opportunities for 9-11 year olds (Please see termly schedule)
  • Literature response activity – writing/art/craft/drama movement
  • Number games, exploration and drills

6.00pm     

  • Relaxed learning options such as interaction with technology
    – using approved apps to extend learning
    – movie making/cartoon creation etc

7.00pm
